Security licensing Information
The Queensland Government recognises that in today’s ever changing society people working in the security industry play a vital role in protecting community safety and property and also that there is a growing need for companies and private citizens to be protected by private security firms. The Queensland security industry currently employs in the region of 12,000 licensed security personnel. The roles of these security personnel includes guarding and patrolling private premise, crowd control, cash in transit, body guarding and corporate security.
FIVE STAR SECURITY TRAINING IS A REGISTERED TRAINING ORGANISATION (RTO) NUMBER 31996
In order to employ the best personnel in these roles the Queensland Government has set high standards for training along with the requirement that all security personnel be licensed. The current training units are from the CPP20212 Property Services Training Package - Security Units of Competency.
Five Star Security Training provides training from this package that will enable people to obtain a Queensland Government Security Guard (unarmed) license and/or Crowd Controllers license. We also provide training in the units that are required for the Cash in Transit licence, and Body Guarding licence. What stands us apart from other training organisations that provide security training is the quality and detail contained within our training packages. Our training will position students to be sought after by employers. We provide high quality training that will enhance a student’s overall knowledge. We also value diversity in our students and we seek students from all age groups and backgrounds.
The structure and size of our organisation will ensure that students are successful in their studies. We provide assistance to them to enable them to achieve their goals and provide them with information that may assist them in gaining employment. Five Star Security Training is not an employer of security staff. Employment cannot be guaranteed. Five Star Security Training is a training organisation with well qualified trainers and administration that has many years of experience in the law enforcement and security training roles.
YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE FUNDING FOR SECURITY COURSES UNDER THE QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT CERTIFICATE 3 GUARANTEE - IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A CO-CONTRIBUTION FEE WHICH IS $30 FOR NON CONCESSIONAL STUDENTS AND $20 FOR CONCESSIONAL STUDENTS. NOTE - FIVE STAR SECURITY TRAINING IS NOT A CRICOS REGISTERED RTO. AS A RESULT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT STUDENTS WHO ARE ON STUDENT VISAS.

Mike is the CEO and Chief Instructor of Five Star Security Training and brings to the organisation thirty years of Law Enforcement and security experience including the military arena.
His qualifications include, A Diploma in Policing (NZ), a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management, Certificate IV in Operational Safety Training, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Certificate II and III in Security Operations and Certificate III in Investigative Services. He is also a qualified personal protection officer (both Police and Military).
Mike is a licensed Private Investigator, Security Guard and Crowd Controller. He has served as a Security Guard Commander at overseas embassies. He was the former head of the Northern Region Counter Terrorist Search Teams (NZ) and has participated and assisted in the planning of many major international security operations such as APEC.
He has many years experience providing the training for security guards, crowd controllers and private investigators. Mike is a member of ASIAL, Australian Institute of Professional Facilitators and is the President of The National Security Association Australia(QLD).

Jenny is the Administration and Student Liaison officer.
She brings to Five Star Security Training many years of law enforcement and investigative experience. She is a qualified Detective and holds a Private Investigator, Security Guard and Crowd Controllers, Bodyguard and Security Officer (cash in transit) licences.
She has a Diploma in Policing (NZ); a Certificate II in Security Operations, a Certificate III in Investigative Services, TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
. She is currently the student liaison office (Australia region) for Massey University New Zealand. She is a member of The International Association of Auto Theft Investigators.
